Can Guinea Pigs Eat Banana Peels?

The answer is yes; Guinea Pigs go crazy for bananas and can eat the banana skins up to a little amount. Guinea pigs are mostly herbivores and they maintain a plantbased diet so you can treat them with banana peels occasionally but not regularly because the sugar content of banana peels is not good for your Guinea Pigs.

Banana peels are enriched in antioxidants, Vitamin B, potassium, and magnesium. Moreover, the fiber protein present in banana peels helps your Guinea pig to maintain healthy bones and boost immunity power. Despite having more advantages feeding excess Banana peels to guinea pigs can cause those digestive problems, diabetes, and other health disorders that are uncontrollable.

Guinea pigs are more health conscious

Guinea pigs are herbivores and intake more plant-based food such as peas spinaches, tomatoes, carrots, broccoli, parsleys, etc. They have a natural diabetes control power because of their amazing physique and bodyweight diet. Guinea pigs also enjoy having banana leaves. However, they should be fed rarely and of course, not as their regular food.

How often guinea pigs should eat banana peels?

If you treat them with banana peels, leave them for a while and do not give any other food, Banana peels also contain some amount of banana core which might be heavy for them to intake. Take out a ripe banana and wash off the peels properly and cut into small pieces. Give the small pieces in a regular interval for a very limited time and leave them to move freely. They can eat all the peels for we need to see them and should give them as per their diet capacity. Remember feeding more can be very dangerous. Its thick texture makes your Guinea pig ill and can cause constipation.

In a nutshell, it is completely fine to give banana peels to your guinea pigs as an occasional treat. But why should you give peels instead of core bananas which they will enjoy a lot? Guinea cannot produce Vitamin C of their own so try to add diets that are filled with Vitamin C and other nutrients which will make them more healthy and look beautiful.
